FLAGSTER CORVETTE

1985 “ FLAGSTER” CORVETTE
HOW IT CAME TO BE

In 1995, one of our regular customers came into our Flag Shop and told me he wanted to paint his Corvette like an American flag. I looked at him with some skepticism and then looked at the faded red Corvette parked out front. It was obvious that he was sincere in his quest and eager to pursue such a project.

We discussed some possible layout schemes and other vehicles that we had seen in the past with the same theme. We both agreed that it had to be an exact reproduction and not just decorated like an American flag. He left equipped with a new American flag, color numbers and a copy from Federal Specifications DDD-F-416D furnished to manufactures of flags for the U.S.Government.

A year later he returned with the most beautiful Corvette that I had ever seen. Maybe it was just me, but he had accomplished what we could barely visualize a year earlier- The Great American Sports Car, wrapped in true colors, 50 stars and 13 stripes, all to scale! I knew at that moment that I needed to own this car, but it was not to be... yet. This was his pride and joy, a year’s labor of love and it was NOT FOR SALE!

He and I kept in touch over the years and I would make him an offer to buy the Corvette each time, but to no avail. In the winter of 2003 we talked and I learned that the Corvette had been parked and covered for the past five years and driven very little. And it WAS FOR SALE! Finally the Corvette would be ours, cobwebs and all. After delivering the Corvette and finishing up paper work, I asked him if he was sure this is what he wanted to do, there was a kind of sad look on his face but then he smiled and said, “ It’s home now.”

We hope you enjoy viewing the Corvette as much as myself, family, friends, employees and customers do. We are in the process of restoring the interior and engine to it’s original beauty and performance. You will see it cruising the streets a lot more, receiving salutes as it passes, also parked in front of our Flag shop and maybe even some charity car shows.

GOD BLESS AMERICA
